100 YEARS FROM NOW
The heavy weight of stress and anxiety in our everyday life. Did you ever wonder….will they matter 100 Years from Now?
The COVID crisis has devastated so many of us, but the anti-vaxxers shun shots. Will it matter 100 Years from Now? A luxurious condo building collapses to the ground in coastal Florida sending dust and death into the air. Will it matter 100 Years from Now? Politicians argue over a voting rights bill. They shout and shake fingers at each other in hostile disagreement. Will it matter… 100 Years from Now?
Nearly a thousand protestors smash through the U. S. Capital building trying to prevent Congress from certifying the election of an American President. Will this matter 100 Years from Now?
Taxes are going up, inflation is rising, businesses have thousands of jobs available, but workers turn their backs on them. Two billionaires build their own private rocket ships and power themselves to the edge of space. Will it matter… 100 years from now.
Like so many questions, we cannot know the answers.
So, what do we do? Perhaps, we turn to simpler things like taking a few moments to feel the orange of a morning sunrise. Why not observe and marvel at the swarms of honey bees as they buzz amid a myriad of fragrant flowers seeking their nectar. Can we listen, really listen, to birdsong… letting its trills fill our ears with the music of nature? Can we walk paths in the parks and delight in the sound of the wind as it sends the leaves of trees into a shaking, hurried dance. Can we take the time to really feel the warmth of the sun on our face, on our hands and later welcome the thrill of lightning and thunder that shakes the Earth and can we watch with elation as a multi-hued rainbow emerges to conquer the fading dark cloud.
Will all this matter… 100 Years from Now?
And, how about the sight of a couple holding hands and then engaging in a touch, a hug, a kiss. We are blessed as we encounter the sweet breath of a new born child and when we see the gentle smile of an elderly face, lined by time, as she looks back on the memories of a well lived life.
Will all of these things matter… 100 Years from Now?
Yes, oh yes.
For these are the markings of Love. And, love always matters today… and… 100 Years from Now!
